THE DOCTRINE OF LIGHT IN THE ORTHODOX
SPIRITUAL TRADITION (ORIGINS, GROUNDS, TRENDS)

The article reviews the doctrine of light in the Orthodox spiritual tradition, its origins, foundations and epistemological status in the “metaphysics of light”, which promotes the concept of light as the primary phenomenon of the world. The work is based on the analytical description of the three lines of Orthodox Christian thought – mystical theology (Archimandrite Sophrony Sakharov), religious philosophy (A.F. Losev) and meta theology (Protoiereus A. Geronimus).
